On March 17th tickets to Dark Lord Day went on sale. If you’re unfamiliar, Dark Lord Day is an annual festival at the Three Floyds brewery near Hammond, Indiana. Once a year they release a special brew called Dark Lord, which you can only buy at this festival and tickets sell out in minutes. This year, Three Floyds used Shopify to handle the sale and promptly crashed then entire Shopify system. Kudos to Shopify for making a public apology for the outage, and as a beer lover I must admit this seems a noble reason to suffer a wasted evening.

Unfortunately I had missed the announcement, and spent the night grumbling about site errors. It wasn’t until the next day that I realized I should have used my newly freed-up evening to chase down those golden tickets.
